While most of the indigenous peoples of Arctic Russia are traditionally reindeer herders, the Yakuts of Yakutia are horse herders. They live in log cabins in the forest with their herds of Yakut horses, a short, chubby and hairy breed that can spend all winter outdoors in temperatures of -60C.
